Interior & Exterior Painting
Interior and exterior painting for homes and businesses — done right since 1997.

Crotti’s Painting has been painting homes and businesses across the tri-state area since 1997. We’re a family-run crew, and whether the job is a single room, a full interior, or a commercial exterior, the approach is the same: prep comes first, and the finish shows it. Our Painting Process
A paint job is only as good as the surface underneath it, which is why most of our time on any job goes into preparation rather than the topcoat itself. Exterior work starts with a wash to strip dirt, mildew, and chalking paint, then enough dry time before we touch it again. From there we scrape loose paint, sand and feather the edges so old and new paint blend smoothly, and repair any damaged or rotted wood. Gaps at trim, siding, and window and door joints get caulked to keep water out, and bare wood or patched areas get primed before anything else happens. Only then does the topcoat go on. Skip any of these steps and the paint may look fine for a season, then crack, bubble, or peel early — prep is what makes a paint job last.
Interior Painting
Interior work covers walls, trim, ceilings, and doors in homes and businesses alike. Sheen matters as much as color. Flat and eggshell work well in living rooms and bedrooms, where low sheen hides minor wall imperfections. Satin is the more versatile middle ground and holds up well in kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways, where walls get touched and wiped down more often. Semi-gloss is the right call for trim, doors, cabinets, and other high-moisture or high-traffic surfaces — the most durable option and the easiest to clean, though it shows more of what’s underneath, which is another reason prep work matters.
Exterior Painting in the Mid-Atlantic
Our region’s weather sets a real window for exterior painting. Spring, from about mid-April through early June, and fall, from September into early November, are the most reliable stretches, when temperatures and humidity stay in a range paint can actually cure in. Latex paint needs roughly 50 to 85 degrees to apply properly, oil-based paint a wider 40 to 90 degrees, and humidity should stay in the 40 to 70 percent range — paint applied outside those conditions is more likely to crack, blister, or bubble early. How often a house needs repainting also depends on the siding: wood typically needs a new coat every 3 to 7 years, aluminum every 5 to 10, vinyl and stucco around every 10, and fiber-cement can go 10 to 15 years between coats. Chipping, peeling, and fading are the signs it’s time.
Homes and Businesses
Residential jobs range from a single accent wall to a full interior and exterior repaint, worked around the household’s schedule. Commercial work — offices, storefronts, and other business properties — comes with its own scheduling needs, often around business hours or slower seasons, and we plan the job accordingly.
We Wash Before We Paint
Exterior prep starts with a clean surface, which is why washing is always the first step before we scrape, repair, or prime anything. If your house or building exterior hasn’t been washed in a while, or you just want the surface cleaned without a full paint job, see our pressure washing service — it’s the same first step we use to get a house ready to paint.
Areas We Serve
We paint homes and businesses across Chester County, PA, Delaware County, PA, Wilmington and New Castle County, DE, Northern Maryland — Cecil and Harford Counties, and South Jersey.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I repaint my house? It depends on the siding — wood needs it most often, vinyl and stucco the least, and fiber-cement can go the longest between coats. Chipping, peeling, or fading are the signs it’s due.
What’s the best time of year to paint here? Spring (mid-April through early June) and fall (September through early November), when temperatures and humidity are steady enough for the paint to cure properly.
Which paint sheen should I use, and where? Eggshell for living rooms and bedrooms, satin for kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways, and semi-gloss for trim, doors, cabinets, and other high-wear or high-moisture surfaces.
What determines the cost of a paint job? The size of the space, the condition of the existing surface, how much prep work is needed, and the finish you choose. Every job is different, which is why we give you a free estimate rather than a number over the phone.
Do you wash the house before you paint it? Yes — it’s the first step in our process, before scraping, repairs, caulking, or priming.
